"There were many African-Americans who survived that war and who were upset at Clint for not having one [in 'Flags' or 'Letters From Iwo Jima']. That was his version: The negro soldier did not exist. I have a different version," Lee said recently at the Cannes film festival in France.
When it comes to anything Spike Lee related,I really don't have to have it.
In response, Eastwood told the Guardian: "A guy like him should shut his face."

Shut your face,punk.
"He was complaining when I did 'Bird' [the 1988 biopic of Charlie Parker]. Why would a white guy be doing that? I was the only guy who made it, that's why. He could have gone ahead and made it. Instead he was making something else."
As for "Flags of Our Fathers," he says there was a small detachment of black troops on Iwo Jima as a part of a munitions company, "but they didn't raise the flag. The story is 'Flags of Our Fathers,' the famous flag-raising picture, and they didn't do that. If I go ahead and put an African-American actor in there, people'd go, 'This guy's lost his mind.' I mean, it's not accurate."

# of blacks in Iwo Jima flag-raising picture:zero.
My two hundred lira's worth:
Spike Lee is marginally talented(at best)as a director, even worse as an actor, and to try and racebait a legendary Hollywood icon like Eastwood who's entertained the WORLD with his films for fifty years, just goes to show how out of control the politically correct race brigade has become as of late.Clint's always been a personal favorite of mine, from his epic Leone westerns to his recent Oscar winning stints in the directorial chair, while Lee has always come off as a nearsighted little crybaby at the helm of forgettable ethnic also-rans to me."Do the Right Thing" reeks of dogshit from Rosie Perez's laughably awkward title credit "dance moves" right up to the ridiculous finale where the "right thing" to do must be to destroy your own place of employment in a fiery riot when racial harrassment doesn't get you pictures of black people on the wall to look at while you're eating your pizza. His films haven't gotten any easier to endure in the nineteen years since, or received much buzz,so his logical reaction must be to use the media to point an accusatory finger at a 78 year old white guy whose done absolutely nothing wrong.Perhaps he'll show up on the set of Clint's next picture with a ghetto blaster pumping Flavor Flav's retarded stammerings cranked up to ten until Eastwood gives in and recasts the entire movie in a more acceptable shade of African-American.Let's hope he keeps his bellyaching to courtside seats at Knicks home games instead.
